Wilson Peak Ascension (Telluride)

$1,200.00

A kinetic sky and hot reds dominate this acrylic portrait of Colorado’s iconic 14,023 foot elevation Wilson Peak, known for its iconic portrayal on Coors products. is located in the Lizard Head Wilderness of the Uncompahgre National Forest, in the northwestern San Juan Mountains and is the highest point in San Miguel County. The mountain was named for A.D. Wilson, the chief topographer with the Hayden Survey.

While creating this painting, I listened to Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, a 1990 novel written by English authors Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. The book is a comedy about the birth of the son of Satan and the coming of the End Times.  . . . and somehow . . . the painting became fiery. Haha!

This painting is 16 x 20 inches on a 1.5 inch cradled, wooden gesso board. It is currently unframed and ships from Paonia, Colorado. Please swipe through the photos to see this work of art in process, in sample rooms and frames, and watch the video below to hear me chat about it. Enjoy!
