Wilson Peak Ascension (Telluride)

Hot reds and a horizontal streak of bold yellow dominate this acrylic portrait of Colorado’s 14,023 foot elevation Wilson Peak. This peak is located in the Lizard Head Wilderness of the Uncompahgre National Forest, in the northwestern San Juan Mountains and is the highest point in San Miguel County. The mountain was named for A.D. Wilson, the chief topographer with the Hayden Survey. Fun fact: This mountain is known for its iconic portrayal on Coors products.

It is located in Colorado’s Lizard Head Wilderness of the Uncompahgre National Forest, in the northwestern San Juan Mountains. It is also the highest point in San Miguel County and a popular peak for climbing. To watch cloud shadows rolling across its surface from Telluride and surrounding areas is utterly magical.

The painting is 16 x 20 inches on a 1.5 inch cradled, wooden Ampersand Gessoboard. It is framed in a contemporary, natural wood floater frame. It will be packaged very carefully, fully insured for its journey to you and shipped from Paonia, Colorado. Due to the fragile nature of the salted surface, there are no returns on this original work of art, as it could be damaged by customer-prepared return shipping methods.
