Angel Among Us — Original Cow Portrait on Gesso Board (2′ x 2′)
Angel Among Us is a portrait of a cow painted in a softer, more relaxed style than my usual work. It was created to highlight the gentle, calm nature of cows—their connection to each other, their quiet beauty, and the way they carry a peaceful presence.
This cow is simply pretty. There’s something about her expression that draws you in and makes you pause. The painting has a loose, dreamy feel and was made using acrylic and colored pencil on gesso board.
I painted it on a crisp fall day in Paonia, Colorado, with Iggy Pop singing in French in the background. The light was clear and soft—perfect for capturing the mood I wanted to express.
The 2′ x 2′ size gives it a solid presence on the wall without being overwhelming. It works well in a variety of spaces—from sunny, bright rooms to dark, dramatic walls. Whether you live in a city apartment or a country home, it fits right in and adds a calm, grounded feel to your space.
The piece is on a gesso board with a 2-inch cradle, giving it a clean, modern look with a bit of a gallery feel. The sides remain wood grain, but are sealed, and it comes wired and ready to hang. It’s unframed, but framing is optional based on your style.
