The Mews

This piece started with bold black shapes and layers of color, and slowly evolved into something playful. Small tuxedo cats are collaged throughout the surface — some resting, some stretching — tucked into the abstract landscape.

I work in acrylic on canvas, building texture and movement with layered brushwork and line. The contrast between the deep black forms and the greens, blues, and warm golden tones gives the painting a lot of depth. Up close, you’ll notice subtle surface variation and detail.

The final layer is a gloss varnish that deepens the color and gives the whole piece a rich, luminous finish.
