This painting represents snippets of memories of my great grandmother Beatrice. We called her Mother Bea. She was a tiny, feminine little lady with pure white hair. twinkling blue eyes and delicate, age-spotted hands. The bedrooms in her cottage had floral wallpaper from the 1920s and in hers, a pretty vanity with perfumes and powders from a bygone era (think silver hair brushes with soft bristles). We miss you, Mother Bea!
I created this artwork using very thick layers of acrylic paints, coarse-ground salt and flower shapes that I cut from regular paper, thick drawing paper and thin cardboard. The piece has a weighty, creamy feel to it and is framed.
