Large original painting with a quiet, timeworn surface.
Built up, then taken back down to resemble aged plaster or worn wallpaper. Title is “Walls Can Talk”.
The surface holds layers of hand-cut floral shapes pressed into it. It’s been sanded smooth, but not flat. You can still see and feel what’s underneath. This painting was created over a previous abstract, and traces of that earlier work still come through in places.
The color stays pale and muted. A matte finish softens everything, with a very light metallic dusting that catches at certain angles as the light shifts. It’s subtle. Easy to miss at first.
It’s painted on 1.5″ gessoboard, giving it a solid, architectural presence on the wall.
Created in Colorado by Robin Arthur – an artist whose work is held in private collections and interior spaces around the world.
There’s one photo in this listing that shows part of my process so you can see how it comes together.
Take a moment to browse the photos to get a better sense of scale and how it sits in a space. You’ll see it on different wall colors and in sample rooms. One of those images shows it in a frame similar to the one available for purchase.
